I was raised in a rural farming community in North Dakota and joined the Marine Corps after high school. I was stationed in the Pacific Northwest and quickly fell in love with the scenery and the people. After completing my enlistment, I returned to the PNW and began my career in law enforcement.
I started as a security police officer at Indian Island and became a reserve officer with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. From there, I was hired on full-time and have proudly worked my way through the ranks to my current role as appointed Sheriff.
Jefferson County is home. I’ve raised my family here and served this community for the past 27 years. I live in Chimacum with my wife, Melissa, and our two Pugs, Ozzy and Bubba. We have two adult children, two grandchildren—and two grand-dogs who keep us on our toes.
I believe the Sheriff’s Office should always be focused on the needs of the community. I’m dedicated to working with local partners to address the issues that matter most and to ensure Jefferson County remains a safe and welcoming place to live. I’ve been honored to serve in a leadership role at JCSO for the past 19 years, and I believe strong leadership means showing up for the people you serve, caring for your team, and holding everyone—including myself—accountable.
I’m running to continue that mission with honesty, integrity, and a deep commitment to the place I call home.
